Invited to collaborate with the Neiman Center in Spring 2024, Wardell Milan produced, Power, a portfolio of eight intaglio prints comprised of etching, aquatint, spit-bite, woodcut and embossing with collage and gold leaf additions. Each image considers the ideas of power as a perception, a rational concept and as a prerogative. Milan created images that highlight how power can serve as the agent of authoritative suppression as well as the fuel to spark a collective movement for societal change.

Wardell Milan (b. 1977, Knoxville, TN) received his BFA from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (2001) and his MFA from Yale University (2004) both in Photography. His work was the subject of the solo exhibition, Wardell Milan: Recent Work, at the Benton Museum of Art, Pomona College (2022-23). His first major solo museum show, America. God Bless You If It’s Good To You, was presented at the Bronx Museum of the Arts in 2021.
